Trinity Merchant Group’s Vision

Trinity Merchant Group’s Vision

For Nathan Randel and Clay Farrell of Trinity Merchant Group, supporting World Vision is a family tradition, one that they were enthusiastic to get Trinity Merchant Group involved in.

“Supporting World Vision is something that I grew up with”, said Randel.  “My family has supported the organization for years. Since I have become an adult and thus figured out my own beliefs and ideologies, I have become quite passionate for  World Vision and what it stands for. It is something that I can truly line up with.  Trying to get these kids out of the cycle of poverty by providing education, healthcare, and nutritious food, so that they can better themselves and break the generational trend of the same family being in poverty decade after decade is extremely important. World Vision makes the entire community a better place.”

World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization that aids with disaster relief, poverty reduction and hunger alleviation, is most known for its child sponsorship program.  World Vision’s child sponsorship program also enriches the child’s entire community by working with local community members to create healthy, successful communities for children where there was previously devastating, widespread poverty. When a child receives a sponsor, World Vision helps the entire community to break the poverty cycle and become self-sustaining.

When you sponsor a child, your sponsorship provides the child with nutritious food, clean water, healthcare and education. The community receives assistance with job training, business coaching, small loans and agricultural training.

World Vision serves an estimated 100 million people in almost 100 countries around the globe regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity or gender. Currently, more than 500,000 children have been sponsored.

Trinity Merchant Group has pledged their support to World Vision through their sponsorship program.

It began with the question, “How can we position Trinity Merchant Group in such a way that we inspire our employees, customers, and other businesses around the country to follow our lead and support this amazing organization? It’s also extremely rewarding to know that at the end of every day, our hard work and dedication contributes to the betterment of those around the world that are less fortunate.

From this desire, came Trinity’s new collaborative, team effort to provide sponsorship to as many children as possible.

“Each month, we add to the Trinity family by increasing our financial support of World Vision’s adoption program”, said Randel. “This way, every new customer aquisition that we make goes towards providing resources for a child in
a situation of need.”

So far Trinity Merchant Group is on the right track and has increased their support to World Vision every month since the inception of the program in January of this year.  As Trinity continues to grow, they hope to increase their support even more in the near future.

If you would like to get involved with World Vision, Trinity Merchant Group encourages you to sponsor a child. For roughly a dollar a day, you can change a child’s life by providing them with access to healthcare, education, nutritious food and clean water and impact an entire community.

Measure CP Supporting the Fight Against Ovarian Cancer

In 2012, the American Cancer Society estimates 22,280 new cases of ovarian cancer will be diagnosed. Of those, 15,500 of the cases will be fatal.

social media outreachOvarian cancer is the ninth most common type of cancer among women and a woman’s risk of developing ovarian cancer is 1 in 71.

For Kimberly Nasief Westergren, President of Measure CP, these statistics hit close to home. Her mother recently passed away after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Watching her mother’s illness progress, Kimberly has pledged to support organizations working to find a cure for ovarian cancer.

The two largest organizations working to find a cure for ovarian cancer are the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund works to develop better tests that can diagnose ovarian cancer earlier, to find the cause of ovarian cancer and to develop new ovarian cancer treatments.

The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance advocates for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. They lobby at a national level for increased research funding for the development of earlier testing and improved healthcare practices.

Both organizations work to educate the general public on the symptoms and risks of ovarian cancer.
Unfortunately, this lack of public awareness of the early symptoms of ovarian cancer contributes to the cancer’s high mortality rate.

In fact, data has shown that ovarian cancer mortality rates have not dropped since the “War on Cancer” was declared in 1971 by President Richard Nixon. This stands in sharp contrast to other female cancers. For example, breast cancer mortality rates have dropped b  y 28 percent in the last 20 years and cervical cancer mortality rates have dropped 31 percent.

Why is this?
Ovarian cancer is known as the “silent killer” for a reason. The first symptoms of ovarian cancer are pressure or pain in the abdomen, pelvis, back or legs, a swollen/bloated abdomen, nausea, indigestion, gas, constipation or diarrhea, and excessive fatigue. A woman with ovarian cancer can also experience more severe albeit rare symptoms such as shortness of breath, the frequent need to urinate or vaginal bleeding.

Unfortunately, none osocial media outreachf these symptoms are exclusive to ovarian cancer; they all mimic the symptoms of more common and much less serious illnesses. This frequently leads to misdiagnosis. Excessive bloating and upset stomach are diagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome. The frequent need to urinate as a urinary tract infection.

These common misdiagnoses are the main reason both the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund work to educate the public on the symptoms and risk of ovarian cancer.

And while early and accurate diagnoses could lower the mortality rate of ovarian cancer, it is still crucial to find a cure for the more than 182,758 women, such as Kimberly’s mother, affected by ovarian cancer in the U.S.

For her mother and these 182,758 other women, Kimberly has vowed to support the fight against ovarian cancer.

New Friends New Life – Empowering Women To Overcome Their Past

Rostin Ventures and Social Media Outreach are proud to announce their support of New Friends New Life.

New Friends New Life is a faith-based organization located in the Dallas metroplex that allows women to leave the degradation of the sex industry and build new lives for themselves and their children. New Friends New Life helps women overcome backgrounds of abuse, addiction, poverty and limited opportunities by providing access to education, job training, financial assistance and spiritual support.

“These women can literally walk in off the streets and get their physical, mental and emotional needs met here,” said executive director of New Friends New Life Katie Pedigo “It’s a special place for them to come and be safe.”  social media outreach

In 2011, the center helped 400 women and children get back on their feet.

“We’ve already seen a dramatic increase in the number for 2012,” said Pedigo “We aren’t just trying to help the woman, we are trying to restore her entire family. We offer counseling, mentoring and tutoring to the children. Eighty percent of the women we help have children.”

To try to prevent children from falling into prostitution, New Friends New Life works with the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center. The organization counsels girls between the ages of 12 and 17 who have been victims of sexual abuse to prevent them from being trafficked when they leave.

“The average age of entry into prostitution is 13 years old. These girls have usually been abused as a child and to escape the abuse, they run away,” Said Pedigo “Within 48 hours, these girls are approached by a pimp who takes all of their freedom away. That’s why the work we do at the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center is critical.”

To help implement its programs, New Friends New Life relies on a dedicated circle of volunteers – its Circle of Friends.

“Circle of Friends is volunteer-based. They are the manpower behind our organization,” said Pedigo “Some volunteers raise awareness, some help with fundraising. From being budget mentors to GED tutors, there is a variety of ways to help.”

Anyone who is interested in helping women and children overcome their background in the sex industry is encouraged to join Circle of Friends.

“New Friends New Life is a transformational, holistic program,” said Pedigo “When these women come in, for the most part they have no job and no education. We assist them with rent, childcare and other everyday necessities until they become self-sufficient.”

New Friends New Life’s transformational, holistic program has helped numerous women get back on their feet and create a stable, safe environment for their children. To raise money to fund the numerous services the center provides from counseling to financial assistances, New Life New Friends and their Circle of Friends host three fundraisers per year.

The most recent fundraiser, the WINGS Luncheon, was held in April and featured bestselling author of the Notebook, A Walk to Remember and The Lucky One, Nicholas Sparks and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott. During the event, Abbott reported on the scope and nature of human trafficking in Texas and legislative preventive measures. New Friends New Life reported on their community activities designed to help women get out of the sex industry and premiered a video highlighting two women’s journey out of the sex industry.

Anyone interested in supporting New Friends New Life is encouraged to attend their next event, join Circle of Friends, make a donation or volunteer. For more information on these activities, visit www.newfriendsnewlife.org
